Grace Gate Structural Repairs for Lords Cricket Ground
In 2021, our team was commissioned by Lord’s Cricket Ground to carry out stone conservation and structural repairs to the Grace Gate entrance after a vehicle collision caused significant damage to the Portland stonework and misaligned the gate.
Working in collaboration with Arts Heritage London, our team carefully dismantled the gate and systematically deconstructed the right side of the entrance wall, removing each stone individually. The damaged stones underwent expert stonemasonry repairs at our workshop, preserving the integrity of the original material. The entire structure was then reconstructed with precision before the gates were expertly rehung. Additionally, we conducted targeted cleaning to remove carbon staining, ensuring the historic stonework was restored to its former condition while adhering to best practices in heritage conservation.
