Located within the St Ann’s Conservation Area of Nottingham, Chestnuts Primary School, though unlisted, boasts significant architectural heritage. The main school block, dating back to 1897, required expert intervention to preserve its original character. Our team was commissioned to undertake a crucial restoration project –

Replicating and restoring two red sandstone pediments. This involved carefully removing the structurally unsound original pediment, creating a meticulously crafted replica in new stone, and then securely reattaching it to the existing base.

This project demonstrates our commitment to:

• Stone Carving: Utilising traditional techniques to create high-quality stonework that seamlessly integrates with existing architecture.
• Stone Restoration: Employing expert craftsmanship to repair and preserve valuable historic stone elements.
• Conservation of Built Heritage: Ensuring the long-term preservation of important buildings within their local context.

By successfully restoring these vital architectural features, we helped to maintain the unique character of Chestnuts Primary School for future generations.
