Located on Kensington High Street, the 100 year old Temperance Fountain is listed as a Grade II building. It was erected as a replacement fountain in 1900 after the original fountain was damaged by lightning in 1897.

The restoration was funded by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Heritage of London Trust. HoLT commissioned London Stone Conservation to carry out a full conservation, reassembling and reinstallation.

The fountain is made of Portland stone as opposed to the original Doulton ware. The fountain is installed opposite the public library and near the parish church, funded by the ST Mary Abbots Church of England Temperance Society. The fountain is made in classical style with angle console and arched top with a cross placed on the top. It has niches, front and back, with shells and cherub’s heads. It has an inscription on the base which reads: ‘Erected by the St Mary Abbotts Kensington Branch of the Church of England Temperance Society.’
